Why Money Affirmations Feel Fake (And What Actually Works)
The results from Marie Kondo-ing my pants drawer were… mixed.
Yes, the folding technique helped me clearly see all my pants… but most of my pants are black… so I still kind of struggle to recognize what’s in there. 😆
But despite having probably way too many black pants, I was so excited to wear one particular pair this week.
These are my perfect rainy weather pants. And it’s been a wet weather onslaught here in the Pacific Northwest lately.
But honestly, that was only part of my joy.
My main delight came from the fact that until recently… these pants didn’t really fit.
Because to the surprise of probably no one, last summer’s “pastry passport” (aka 3.5 weeks in Europe sampling pastries galore… plus the cruise buffet) resulted in me coming home with a few extra pounds. 😅
A few totally worth it! pounds, mind you… but also pounds I’m very happy are now gone.
So why am I sharing this with you?
Because while it would’ve been nice to lose those pounds instantly… that’s not how weight loss works. And it’s also not how changing your relationship with money works.
Just like I can’t lose my 10 “pastry pounds” with one workout, we usually can’t shift years of money momentum with one “positive thought” or one round of money affirmations.
And that’s exactly what today’s video is about: why money affirmations can feel fake (or like they don’t stick)… and what actually works instead.
