Should You Dream BIG, Stay Believable, or Strike a Balance?

A couple weeks ago, Nick and I attended the Oregon Chardonnay Celebration.

Why?

Well, in addition to visiting wineries nearly every summer Friday afternoon, watching V is for Vino episodes with dinner, and learning Madeline Puckette’s multi-step wine tasting protocol …

… this festival just felt like the next logical step in our journey to become total wine nerds. 😄

But despite Nick and my steadily increasing wine-geek cred, our tolerance for alcohol consumption isn't very high.

We typically max out at around 1-2 drinks per week.

So the prospect of tasting white wine from over 50 local vendors was kind of daunting.

Fortunately, Nick found pre-drinking probiotic shots that help your body process alcohol more effectively. So we both gulped these down in the back seat of an Uber on the way to the festival.

Also fortunately, there were spittoons.  Every tasting table had a metal bucket to discard any Chardonnay that one preferred to spit instead of swallow.

While I made use of these spittoons without hesitation, a friend who joined us for the tasting said it made him feel guilty to “waste” quality Chardonnay.

Nick, being the Libra rising and moon sign that he is, took sort of a balanced approach, swallowing about half the time and spittooning the rest.

A couple of hours in, and many tastes of Chardonnay later, our friend’s Chardonnay taste buds had pretty much been exhausted, Nick was on a sort of fun and giggly Chardonnay high, and I was left kind of wishing that I’d actually let myself ingest a bit more of this sometimes citrusy and acidic, sometimes creamy and buttery, Oregon-grown Chard.

So what do these wine tasting adventures have to do with manifesting?

Well, when it comes to setting intentions for what we want to manifest, the quandary is kind of the same.

Do we go BIG, like our friend who swallowed every single Chardonnay sip, and intend to manifest our most outrageous dream?

Or do we stay totally believable, like my own more conservative wine sampling approach, and intend to manifest something that feels very well within our comfort zone?

Or should we be more like my sweet Libra boyfriend and strike some kind of balance between the two?

This is the discussion I’m having in today’s YouTube video.

And, spoiler alert, I side with Nick on this.

In the video, I share about some of the success I’ve had with this approach to intention setting as well as two ways that I recommend for getting the mix of big vs believable just right.
